“I wrote this song to myself, trying to figure out if I was making the most out of miserable situations or if I purposefully put myself into these situations. It’s also about nature vs nurture, how much your surroundings shape you, how much things that happen to you shape you as a person and me wondering whether we are all voids, shaped by our surroundings or if there’s an independent essence in us all. The hook of “1, 2, 3 come on count with me, the OCD is killing me” rhythmically sounds like a nursery rhyme, this is due to my struggles with OCD, especially in my childhood which made me count and re-count objects amongst other ticks..This is a reference to that.”
